Youtube Custom URL Requirements
Before you can claim your custom URL for YouTube, your account must meet the following requirements:
- If you have 100 or more subscribers, click the button below.
- You have to be at least 30 days old in order to apply.
- Upload your profile picture.
- Have uploaded banner image.
These limitations are quite modest, but they do ensure that new channels don’t set custom URLs right away.
Channels that are only a few hours old don’t yet have something to direct visitors to, so we disabled creating URLs for channels that have been created within the past hour.
We recommend that you wait at least one month before proceeding to the next step. This will give you enough time to create content and get a good number of subscribers on your comment-based Instagram account.
One thing to keep in mind is if you’re using custom URLs on your shop, they won’t be completely custom.
YouTube will suggest a URL based on:
- YouTube Username
- Current vanity URLs
- Linked website name
Presumably, YouTube does this to help people keep accurate track of URLs and their corresponding channels.
To help you drive viewers to your account, you should set your channel’s display name to something that you’d want the URL for.
